Annual Fundraiser About To Sell Out

Helena: The Spay-Ghetti Dinner, one of Helena’s most popular fundraisers, is about to sell out, officials from the animal shelter hosting the event said today.

“This fundraiser brings together animal lovers from all over our area,” stated shelter Executive Director Gina Wiest. “The demand for tickets has just been huge. We want to encourage folks who want to attend to call or stop by the shelter ASAP to reserve tickets while there are still seats left.”

The fundraiser, to be held at the Helena Civic Center on Saturday, February 18, features a spaghetti dinner, dessert and a cash bar. Silent and live auctions are held throughout the night. Some of this year’s items include a shopping spree at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City (airfare and hotel included), a copy of the Beatles Abbey Road album signed by the two remaining Beatles (Paul McCartney and Ringo star), a portrait of the late Dale Earnhardt (signed before his untimely death) and much more. Information about the auction items can be found on the shelter’s web site: www.mtlchs.org

The theme of the event this year will be “A Celebration of Project Malamute” to acknowledge the incredible response the greater Helena community showed after the shelter rescued more than 161 malamutes from a puppy mill. Wiest said, “We want to thank all the people and businesses who stepped forward to lend help – financial and otherwise.”

American Shelter Dog

In most shelters, cats are rarely identified by breed. Instead, they are labeled as Domestic short, medium or long hairs. So why aren't we describing our dogs in a similar way?
