Local Animal Shelter Over Capacity on Cats and Kittens; Community Members Asked to Adopt

Special Promotion Offered by Humane Society to Encourage Immediate Adoptions

The Lewis & Clark Humane Society (LCHS) is over capacity for felines; with more than 60 cats already in the shelter and 50 more kittens out in foster care, a special plea for adopters has been put out by shelter officials, and the organization is offering special pricing to encourage people to step forward.

“We are way over capacity for cats and kittens this summer, and desperately need people who can offer a loving, safe home to come forward,” Gina Wiest, executive director said today. “Our current facility is just not equipped to care for the increasing number of strays and newborns that find their way to the shelter. “

Cats are offered at just $20 and kittens for $45 (with an approved application). All animals come spayed/neutered, micro-chipped and vaccinated. Additionally, owners get a voucher for a free vet visit and a bag of cat food.

“The shelter has always counted on animal lovers in Helena to assist the helpless and homeless animals who have no voice and no choice” Wiest said. “Anyone who can help is asked to call the shelter at 442-1660 or stop by and meet some truly amazing animals who deserve a loving home”
