Lewis & Clark Humane Society Shelter Over Capacity

Announces 50’s S.O.C.-H.O.P. (“Shelter Over Capacity-Help Our Pets!”) Promotion

Still lookingOfficials at the Lewis & Clark Humane Society announced today that the shelter was over capacity for dogs and cats and that a special promotion – a 50’s-themed S.O.C.-H.O.P (stands for “Shelter Over Capacity – Help Our Pets!”) promotion was being offered to attract people to the shelter to adopt a dog or a cat.

“Unfortunately, the number of strays and owner turn ins, coupled with a decline in adoptions in the last few weeks has put the shelter at maximal capacity.” Gina Wiest, executive director of the shelter stated. “We do not want to turn anyone away, and we don’t want to euthanize any animals. We are in a real tough place and hope loving adopters looking for that special dog or cat will decide to participate in our S.O.C. - H.O.P. promotion to find their forever friend.”

Starting on Friday, March 25th, the promotion offers a 50% off price all regular adoption fees, plus an additional 50% off if the adopter fills out the adoption form, located on the shelter’s web site, prior to arriving at the shelter. All animals adopted will come spayed/neutered and micro-chipped, vaccinated (including rabies shot) and will get a free vet exam and pet ID tag.

Additionally, the shelter will host a 50’s-themed event on Friday, April 1 and Saturday April 2nd with root beer floats and decorations, with a special raffle. Anyone who adopts a pet those days will automatically be entered into the drawing for a $150 gift certificate to Murdoch’s.

For information on adoptable animals, please visit the shelter’s web site: www.lchsmt.net or call the facility at 442-1660.

American Shelter Dog

In most shelters, cats are rarely identified by breed. Instead, they are labeled as Domestic short, medium or long hairs. So why aren't we describing our dogs in a similar way?
